April 26th: Grogan and Company Auction: LARGE ASSEMBLAGE OF RMS QUEEN MARY ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS, RENDERINGS AND PLANS; Morris & O’Connor, N.Y., Architects; the renderings of various interior sections of the ship comprising approximately 156 loose, unmounted drawings, 11 large scale mounted drawings, 1 framed drawing, 1 blue print booklet, and 2 rolls of miscellaneous blue prints (brittle and torn); some drawings bearing dates 1932-1934; together with RELATED QUEEN MARY EPHEMERA, including a FRAMED PHOTOGRAPH, titled The “534” Ready for Launching, by Stewart Bale, Liverpool and a DINING TABLE BELL . Between 1915 and 1930 Benjamin Wistar Morris (1870-1944) designed the Cunard Steamship Company Building in New York.

Due to the success of this project, he was asked by Sir Percy Bates to collaborate on the design of the RMS Queen Mary. Benjamin Morris was asked to “incorporate an element of American style and grandeur” to the ship and his duties included establishing the specifications for the interior design of the major public rooms and corridors and selecting the manufacturers and artists to complete the work Estimate $5,000-20,000

This is part one one of the Wallace Hartley/Maria Robinson archive including personal items recovered from Wallace Hartley’s body such as his signet ring.  The only known letter written by Wallace Hartley onboard Titanic and a letter written by Wallace Hartley’s parents and recovered from his body. The personal collection of Helen Melville Smith, Captain Edward Smiths only  daughter, Titanic Promotional Poster, Rare First Generation Photos, Important collection of Olympic Material including maiden voyage items, paneling from C86 etc. Henry Aldridge and Son’s April 20th Titanic and Transport Auction is only 2 days away. Please note if you are attending we recommend arriving early, we have approximately 50 spaces in our car park and they fill up quite quickly.
